Some residents of Panther Valley and others, outside the gates, are familiar with the phenomenal train set constructed by Col. Ron Philipp, retired, in the basement of his home. Over the past 15 years, individuals and organizational groups have been welcomed to the home of Ron and Barbara, his wife, for indepth tours of, "the running of the trains." What becomes obvious is that the train ride is actually a virtual journey through the history of the area and the importance of the rail system in the 40s and 50s, on its path from Scranton through the Deleware Water Gap. The primary purpose of this video is to preserve the history of this era for future generations. The voice-over, at the end of the video, will provide more insights into the production of, "A Man and His Trains."

Panther
Valley
There is enchanment in this magic place;
And, if you listen closely you will hear
Soft Indian footsteps as they trace
Each stealthy movement of golden deer.
From out the past the sculptured panther
stands
On ageless rock, the sunlight on his flanks...
Lordly and proud in a Paradise of lands...
He lifts his mighty paw in savage thanks!
For here's a spot like none else on Earth;
Where unsoiled winds caress the rolling hills,
Where old trees guard new blossoms finding birth,
And gently sounds the calls of whippoorwills.
This is a land where Man's quest is fulfilled...
A place to breathe and dream forevermore;
Where hushful peace prevails and dins are stilled,
Close to the World's heart...beyond its roar!
